The Organized Homeschool Life
The Organized Homeschool Life was written Dr. Melanie Wilson, a Christian psychologist and mom of six. When Melanie left the workforce, she had to figure out what organizational methods worked for her “new normal” as a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom. This book and planner set is the product of her research and trial-and-error as she worked toward finding the best routines for her family.
The set shown here includes a book and a 6-month organizational planner for moms. (Scroll down to the bottom for your chance to win this exact set!)
The Book
Melanie’s book contains a simple challenge for every week of the year – everything from “Daily Devotions” to “Core Curriculum Prep” to “Marriage of Your Dreams.” Each week-long challenge is then broken up into smaller, bite-sized missions to help you put the plan into action. Let’s use April as an example.
The four chapters for April include:
- Organize Your Finances
- Curriculum Challenge
- Friendship Challenge
- Family Celebration Challenge
Then, if we focus on the Curriculum Challenge, we’ll see the following missions, each with a couple paragraphs of encouragement or explanation, plus relevant links and forms.
- Evaluate current curriculum
- List next year’s needs
- Research new curriculum
- Create a shopping list and buy if you’re ready
Even though there are several chapters devoted to homeschool-related goals, this book still contains plenty of personal and household challenges to make it beneficial to any mom.
The Planner
The Organized Homeschool Life is designed for moms to keep their lives and their households functioning well – it’s not a student planner or curriculum planner. Just like the book, there is an emphasis on homeschooling families, but the basic contents could be used by any family.
Each month is easily located with tabs and contains an undated, monthly calendar. Within the monthly sections are daily pages (as shown above), and weekly menu plan forms and shopping lists. Scattered throughout the planner are forms that can be used in conjunction with the challenges in the book, placed in the relevant months.
These are just a few of the forms included in the planner:
- Mid-Year Curriculum Review
- Student Evaluation of Homeschool Teacher
- Daily Chore List
- Family Celebrations Gift Planner
- Food Inventory
- Summer Bucket List
