World Oceans Day 2020

World Oceans Day 2020

He is the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them
he remains faithful forever.
(Psalm 146:6)

Happy World Oceans Day! Living by the beach, ocean conservation is very “real” to our family, so we’re excited to join in the celebrations this year, and you’re invited to participate along with us!

First up is a giveaway. One person will win this oceans-themed prize package:

giveaway world ocean day 2020

a Rafflecopter giveaway

(Giveaway is sponsored by Thames & Hudson, Laurence King Publishing, and myself.)

I didn’t want to just drop a giveaway and call it a day, so I’ve invited some guest authors to share with you. But these aren’t just any authors – they’re all kids! Over the next several days, you can look forward to essays from kids ages 7-14, as they share about the ocean and their favorite sea creatures. Each post will also contain links to related resources for further fun and learning.

I’ll link to their essays here, so you can easily find them as they’re published throughout the week. (Reading and commenting on each composition will earn you extra entries for the giveaway!)

I’d love to hear how you’re celebrating this week! Whether you’re participating in a beach clean-up, taking a marine biology class, donating funds to a conservation organization, or reading about sea life, it’s all valuable! To thank you for your efforts, I’m hosting one more, smaller, giveaway. Share what you’ve learned or done for World Oceans Day 2020 on Instagram or Facebook, with the hashtag #NDRWorldOceans2020, for a chance to win a small, oceans-themed surprise package in the mail. I may also select a few posts to feature during the week.

Last, but not least, I’ll be sharing one big post at some point this week, highlighting ways to continue learning about our oceans and what we can do to help protect them. If you want to be sure you don’t miss it, go ahead and subscribe to the newsletter – the link will go out there when it’s live.

Time to dive in! Let’s learn about our oceans and how we can keep them healthy, together.
